What is Trojan Horse?

Trojan Horse, short for W32/Sasser.worm, is an infective worm that affects WinNT/Win2000/WinXP/Win2003. If getting infected with Trojan Horse, your PC will crash or reboot itself without any reason. You will be fed up with the deathly slow running and CPU may be taken over 100%! To be surprise, you should be able to find a process named avserve.exe running. This is how Trojan Horse acts once it has lurked into your system. Here comes the question that how to remove this virus easily?

How to remove Trojan Horse?

Actually, Trojan Horse destroys your laptop by downloading avserve.exe and then infects your PC. Differ from other virus infection way, it uses avserve.exe to attack Lsass Bug; block your internet connection and make your PC run like a crawl eventually. If your laptop is in this trouble, you need to take the following action to get rid of it.

#1 Update your system to the latest version, including the browser you are using, such as Internet Explorer or Firefox.

#2 Block some ports of your Fire Wall which aims to stop the attacks from avserve.exe. They are 445, 5554 and 9996 port.

#3 Delete avserve.exe manually. Open Task Manager and find the process of avserve.exe. End it up and close Task Manager.

#4 Clean up items that virus add into Registry. Go to Start—Run—Type in REGEDIT and then press Enter. Double-click and you will find HKEY_CURRENT_USERSOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun. Delete this item avserve.exe” = %SystemRoot%avserve.exe and then close Registry.

#5 If you still can not get rid of Trojan Horse completely, you need to get a professional security program to help you. There are various tools available on the internet.

what does a w32 trojan/MZR do to your machine?

My anti virus software stopped a w32 trojan /Mzr . But what would it have done to my pc if it had infected it. can’t find any details on the anti virus web sites.

All Trojans have one main function:

Simply the block the route to your processor which slows down the speed of you system rapidly.
With a Trojan you should remove it instantly as one Trojan “points out” a route to your system and allows others to enter your system and hence render the system useless.
Gradually unless removed your system will slow down.

become ingrained in your computer then duplicate itself. once assimilation is complete then it will randomly remove your files and data. its duplicates will proceed to eat away at your cpu as well. not good. solution? reformat im afraid

Did your antivirus get rid of the trojan, or just find it for you? A trojan is not a virus, it is spyware, and it can cause lots of trouble. So, unless your AVI removed the trojan, it’s still there. Get SpyBot or Ad-Aware or both from download.com, install and run them.

Immunize your computer in SpyBot, before running a full bot check. Then remove everything it finds. Run a full system scan in Ad-Aware and remove everything IT finds. Then your system will be cleaned up. Keep both of these updated and run them often.
