What freeware out there that can get rid of Trojan.Wimad that my norton antivirus has failed to remove?
According to the security page: Trojan.Wimad is a Trojan that downloads remote files from remote Web sites by exploiting the Digital Rights Management (DRM) technology available in Windows. The Trojan arrives on the compromised computer as a license-protected multimedia file.
How do I prevent this from happening again next time?

I use one freeware, called Ad-Aware.

Hmmm…seems like nothing works on your computer, i first recommend you to run Norton in safe mode and Spybot Search And Destory.Or else i recommend you to run AVG Antispyware in Safe Mode.This MIGHT work bcoz the Trojan that got installed is a really tricky one.
I recommend you to do a System Restore and rollback your computer to a date b4 the Trojan got installed on your system.

- Sophos Free Virus Cleaner Troj/Wimad already detected by Sophos
- Trend Micro Sysclean + Latest Pattern File (required) – TROJ_WIMAD already detected by Trend Micro

My sister downloaded Spybot for me and it works just great.
